The Nocpix Rovex is a handheld thermal imaging camera designed to display heat signatures during nature observation and civil use. Its open-view format centres on a 5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD touchscreen, allowing users to scan without looking through a small eyepiece and to share the thermal view with companions.
The camera is intended for birdwatching, wildlife observation and outdoor exploration in daylight or darkness, including low-light and visually complex environments where branches, reeds, grass or other cover can make visual searching difficult.
A 384 x 288 thermal sensor with 12 micrometre pixel pitch, NETD at or below 25 mK and a 50 Hz frame rate works with a 15 mm F0.8 objective lens. The 17.5 x 13.1 degree field of view supports broad scanning across woodland, reeds, grass and other visually complex habitats.
For a 0.2 x 0.2 m target at P(n)=99%, the stated detection distance is 90 m. The lens uses manual focus, while 1x to 4x pinch-to-zoom provides digital enlargement on the touchscreen.
R+ Super-Resolution processes the thermal image in real time, while smart image denoising and smart target highlighting help make heat sources easier to distinguish within the scene. Smart tracking can mark likely bird heat sources with colour-coded frames.
Three imaging modes adapt the presentation for different conditions: Standard Mode for general nature observation, Birding Mode for highlighting warmer targets against cooler backgrounds, and Rain & Fog Mode for reducing thermal scattering noise in difficult weather.
The touchscreen provides direct access to brightness, image capture, video recording, palettes, scene modes and settings. Four thermal palettes are available: White-hot, Black-hot, Red-hot and Pseudocolour.
Photos and videos can be stored in the 64 GB internal memory. Wi-Fi and the NocpixRec app support device control plus the download and sharing of captured images and videos.
The compact body measures 135 x 70 x 182 mm and weighs under 290 g without the external battery. It carries an IP66 rating and a stated one-metre drop-resistance specification.
Power comes from a replaceable 21700 lithium-ion battery, with a stated maximum operating time of four hours at 22 degrees Celsius. Charge through the USB Type-C connection using a standard 5 V DC/2 A adaptor; fast charging is not supported.
